Fashion/Photog Blog

Most creative people will tell you, they have more than one way they express their creativity.  Obviously the number one way for me is photography. But my number two way is definitely through clothes and fashion. So I decided to start blogging about fashion to show new things I love or have purchased, trends/classics I am loving and how to put together outfits. I actually really hesitated doing a blog like this because its a little more personal and who am I to give someone advice or my opinion on the subject. I was afraid it was too bold of a move to assume people would be interested in what I had to say. However, when I am reading someone else’s (a business’s) posts and blogs, its the more personal ones I enjoy the most. So, I wanted to give people more of a sense of who I am and what I am about. I have no formal training in this area, so what I am telling you, is really just my opinion, my observations over the years and what I learned from my experiences.

For my first informative blog, I have made a list of things I have noticed don’t go out of style and I always like to have in my wardrobe or incorporate into my look. To help demonstrate, I have included a more recent picture of a celebrity wearing the item and then an older picture (at least 20 years old) as well to show this item never goes out of style. This list is in no particular order.

I love helping style people for my photo shoots. To check out my Pinterest board of outfit ideas for everyday or for good photo shoot looks, click here.

Top 9 classic looks according to me

1) Pearls. I always have some plain stud earrings in my ears or in my jewelry box. They go with everything. I also have several pearl necklaces and bracelets. I wore pearls at my wedding in 2004.

Princess Di and Scarlett Johansson

2) Leopard (or any type of animal print). I just recently started to getting into leopard print in the last year or so. Now I’m obsessed. Shoes, wallet, socks, robe, PJ’s, gloves, scarf. And anything else I can find. What I noticed was, I was a dork for not being into it sooner. I usually use it as an accent to plain outfits. Its such a classic look and never goes out of style.

Jackie O. and Miranda Kerr.

3) Plain white shirt, button-down or V-neck T. Again, so much versatility and so classy looking! Always have a good one in your wardrobe.

Audrey Hepburn and Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson and Gwen Stefani

4) Red nails. This universally looks good on any fingernails and toe nails. I have been wearing red polish since I can remember and it never looks out of style. I don’t always wear this color on my nails but its classy when I do! When in doubt, wear red nail polish..

Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Conrad

This is a great shirt to dress up or down and there are so many different washes and variations of color. I like to not be matchy-matchy when I am wearing with jeans. If I am wearing a dark denim shirt, I will wear light colored jeans. I like to wear my denim shirts with black leggings or black jeggins too.

Marilyn Monroe and Ali Larter

 6) Converse. I have a plain back pair. They are awesome and never go out of style. I think I want a white pair next. They also look good on any age.

Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller. Ok so SJP in Sex and the City isn’t 20 years old but I felt she deserved to be on the list with this look. I did not put these two together because they are married. It just worked out that way.

There were some years there in mid twenties that I use the self tanner or spray tan. Finally about 3 years ago I said screw it! Who am I tanning for? I don’t ever look tan anyway and I didn’t feel like it was true to how I looked. I learned that people look best with their natural skin tone. I see so many fair skin celebs on the red carpet sporting their natural color and they look so radiant and classy!

Audrey Hepburn and Kristen Bell

8) Pea Coats. They look good on men and women and people of all ages. They are so classic and look good in all kinds of colors. Such a great thing to have in your wardrobe.

Jackie O. and Jessica Alba

9) Polka Dots. I have several shirts with polka dots. I want a dress that is blue with white polka dots and I can’t find one I like, but when I do, I will probably never get rid of it.

Julia Roberts in pretty woman and Emmy Rossum
